German Design Award 2024: Special Mention prize for the E heat pump system from Dimplex

Since 2012, the German Design Award has been identifying key design trends, honouring them and presenting them to a broad public. Every year, exceptional submissions in product design, communication design and architecture are honoured. One of the 2024 award winners in the "Excellent Product Design" category is the E heat pump system from Dimplex. It was specially developed for use in existing buildings to make replacing the old heating system with a new, regenerative heating system as simple and easy as possible.

The "Special Mention" honour of the German Design Award is presented for remarkable design achievements. Design submissions that impress with a special approach or aspect can stand out from the competition with the "Special Mention" label.


System E
With its discreet, timeless "industrial design", the System E outdoor unit shines and blends in perfectly with its surroundings in terms of colour and shape. Great importance was attached to high-quality and durable materials. Instead of unnecessary plastic panelling, Dimplex uses powder-coated metal for System E, which is robust and weather-resistant and at the same time promises a high-quality appearance with the most careful workmanship in every detail.
The construction design has been thought through to the end. The extensive range of accessories includes a floor bracket that conceals concrete foundations, wall panelling to hide connecting pipes and cables, various pipe routing options and an installation box for easier downward connection.

The heat pump system is controlled via a 4.3-inch touch display or in the Dimplex Home app, which is based on the design of the heat pump control on the touch display and promises intuitive usability.
With the natural refrigerant R290, System E is predestined as a high-quality, sustainable product for the renovation and modernisation market. The highest efficiency values with a rating of A+++ also contribute to this, even when operating with flow temperatures of 55°C and radiators. The air/water heat pump can also heat and cool.
