Dimplex heat pump heats historic building with 380 square metres from the 19th century

4 min read
In an impressive project, the Rübesam family, together with their heating company ‘Schnapp-Heizung’, transformed their historic half-timbered house into an energy-efficient home with a Dimplex LA TBS heat pump. This modernisation in the city centre represents a perfect symbiosis of preserving historical architecture and using state-of-the-art heating technology, significantly reducing energy consumption and helping to protect the environment. As the market and technology leader in the field of high-capacity heat pumps, Dimplex is always the best address when it comes to demanding heating projects.

Transformation of a historical jewel

In the middle of the lively city centre stands a half-timbered house that has been preserving its stories for over a century. The Rübesam family faced the challenge of transforming this historic property into an energy-efficient home. With the help of Dimplex and the local heating contractor ‘Heizung-Schnapp’, it was possible to install the modern heat pump technology, which proves optimal heating operation despite the demanding conditions of the old building and its considerable size of 380 square metres.

Innovative solutions for modern challenges

Following a room-by-room heat load calculation, the choice fell in favour of installing the Dimplex LA TBS, a heat pump specially designed for use in buildings with larger heating loads, which proved to be the key to success. The system was designed for a flow temperature of 55°C. The perfect installation location was found in the backyard, as the innovative design and flow-optimised construction of the heat pump make a significant contribution to reducing the sound power level.

Impressive results

One year after installation, the figures show an impressive improvement: the annual oil consumption of over 4,000 litres has been reduced to around 10,000 kWh of electricity. These significant energy savings illustrate not only the efficiency of the Dimplex heat pump, but also its contribution to reducing the Rübesam family's carbon footprint. Installer Stefan Schnapp and homeowner Simon Rübesam both expressed their satisfaction with the successful combination of traditional construction methods and state-of-the-art heating technology.
