Good design is functional and environmentally friendly.
"As a designer, I naturally had clear ideas about a house."
Marco A. Mueller travels the world a lot. He usually commutes between China and Loewe's German branch in Kronach. This is where some of the style icons that he designed for a German consumer electronics manufacturer for many years can be found.
Last year, Marco A. Mueller and his wife Eva built themselves a home in Burgkunstadt. "I love the tranquillity and peace, the authentic and down-to-earth. As a designer, I naturally had clear ideas for a house."
Two in harmony
He found the right architect in André Rösch. Rösch immediately understands his way of thinking about function and form. Like Marco A. Mueller, he is an urban cosmopolitan with a love of Franconian country life.
Together they developed a simple, rectangular, two-storey building with a timber frame construction. Wood, metal, glass, open spaces. There are no protrusions, corners or unnecessary angles in the house. There are only walls where they have an important function, and then they are smooth and white.
A harmonious whole
"We approached the architecture of the house in the same way as good product design. We thought about the house from the inside, from its function.
For me, good design has to be more than just aesthetic. It has to be innovative, understandable, honest, unobtrusive, timeless, consistent, but also functional and environmentally friendly. And of course, as a designer, I place a special focus on genuine materials, quality and sustainability," says Marco Müller.
Focus on the environment
"Fossil fuels were out of the question in view of the current climate debate. For me, the heat pump is the heating medium of the future: sustainable and environmentally friendly. What's more, you can also use it for cooling.
When it came to selecting a manufacturer, my choice quickly fell on System M from Glen Dimplex. Not only because it was recommended by my architect. I was simply convinced by the overall package."

Competent contact person
"In addition to the right choice of architect, the choice of installation company was very important," adds Mueller.
The company Heinz Brückner Sanitär und Heizungstechnik from Großheirath ensured a quick and clean installation. The refrigerant pipework and connections for the outdoor unit were laid almost invisibly. An important aspect for the designer.
Compact format
Marco Müller has installed the simple, compact indoor unit in his utility room.
For 210 square metres of living space, Marco A. Mueller has installed System M Comfort Cooling, with an output of 12 kW. He uses the system for heating via underfloor heating, for hot water preparation and also for cooling in summer.
Technology that inspires
"The touch display and the user interface are functional and really well designed. You draw an 'M' on the display with your finger and you're in. Operation is intuitive and child's play. And no matter where I am in the world: I can use my smartphone to control and programme the parameters of my heat pump at home anytime and anywhere."
Intelligent detail
The Smart RTC room controllers with which Marco A. Mueller has equipped his house ensure that the setpoint/actual temperature is equalised and report this back to the heat pump. The heat pump's heating curve is adjusted depending on the temperature difference.
The available energy in the house is distributed to the rooms that require heat without switching on the heat pump, which only operates when the available energy is no longer sufficient.
"That's how modern, smart heating technology works for me.
Consistently sophisticated in function and design - and with plenty of added value."
