Modern country life
Modern country living in a weekend home.
With sustainability and design standards.
More and more people are moving to the countryside. Like the Munich photographer Corinna Brix. Together with her family, the successful photographer and stylist has created a refuge to live and work away from the urban centres. Sustainability plays a major role here - even when it comes to heating.
"Country woman" with style
"We live a sustainable lifestyle. That's why it was clear to us that we would pay attention to ecological materials and sustainability when building our holiday home. The city is a challenge, especially with children. That's why we wanted to create a home in the countryside where we could spend our weekends and holidays."
Corinna Brix, 41, photographer and stylist in Munich during the week, at weekends in Weil in Upper Bavaria, near Lake Ammersee.
The perfect mix of styles
The wooden house was customised together with an architect. The bungalow, which extends over three levels, is reminiscent of a Japanese teahouse. Most of the natural building materials were sourced locally.
The stylist skilfully used a mix of vintage, grandparents' heirlooms and recycled furniture. The extensive grounds were laid out in the style of a natural cottage garden.
Sustainable heating
The ecologically sensitive topic of heating was at the centre of the building technology. Fossil fuels? Out of the question for Corinna Brix. She therefore opted for an air-to-water heat pump. Performance and energy efficiency were convincing. But that wasn't enough for her. After intensive research, she found what she was looking for: the "System M Compact" heat pump from Dimplex.
"I was immediately impressed by the sleek design, the customisation options, the ease of operation and the fact that this heat pump is particularly quiet," says Corinna Brix. She chose a plain silk grey exterior with darker cladding in a contrasting colour.
Design as a major plus
"I was particularly impressed by the design of the heat pump. And the ability to customise it to my wishes. Not a grey block, but a stylish cuboid that blends in perfectly with the natural surroundings."
Completely smart, at home and on the move
Corinna Brix: "The system can also be easily controlled via smartphone using the Dimplex Home app. If we want to spend the weekend in our holiday home, I start up the system in the morning from Munich using my smartphone. When we arrive in Weil in the evening, the rooms are cosy and warm and the 180-litre hot water cylinder has been heated up."
Corinna Brix: "The investment in the system has paid for itself in five years - and by using air as a heat source, the system is also very environmentally friendly."
